Bryan Fair is the Thomas E. Skinner Professor of Law at the University of Alabama School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 1991. He previously served as a Lecturer at UCLA School of Law and worked as an associate at Bryan, Cave, McPheeters & McRoberts. His roles include faculty advisor to student groups such as the Jessup International Moot Court Team, Black Law Students Association, and American Constitution Society, as well as administrative leadership as Associate Dean for Special Programs and Director of Diversity and International Programs.

Professor Fair’s research focuses on equality theory under the Fourteenth Amendment, critiquing the erosion of anti-caste principles in equal protection jurisprudence. His work addresses systemic inequality in the United States, particularly intersecting with civil rights, constitutional law, and the legal implications of race and gender.
He has received multiple accolades, including the University’s Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award and the law school’s Outstanding Faculty Member award (student-selected). He is a member of the American Law Institute and has served on committees for the ABA, AALS, and LSAC.
Professor Fair has also taught at Seattle University, the University of Tennessee, the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), and The Australian National University. He co-directed UCLA’s Academic Support Program and led the University of Alabama’s Swiss Program exchange from 1997–2010.
