Brunella Santarelli is a Research Technical Specialist at the Cyprus Institute's Science & Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center (STARC) since June 2018. She holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Arizona (2018), focusing on the technological development of early glaze paints in the American Southwest. With postdoctoral experience in museums and academia, her work bridges materials science, conservation, and archaeology.
Her responsibilities include maintaining STARC's Archaeological Materials laboratories, particularly the SEM-EDS system, and applying advanced analytical techniques to support heritage science research. Santarelli specializes in interdisciplinary approaches to understanding archaeological materials and their technological histories.
