معرفی
Dr. Bruce Waldman is a Professor of Integrative Biology at Oklahoma State University (OSU), where he has served since 2018. Previously, he held positions including Senior Researcher at Seoul National University (2019–2022), Associate Professor and Professor at Seoul National University (2009–2019), and Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Harvard University (1984–1992). He earned his Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University (1983) and a B.S. in Honors Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1975).
His research focuses on behavioral ecology, population ecology, molecular ecology, conservation biology, and disease ecology, with particular emphasis on amphibians and their interactions with pathogens like Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd). Key themes include understanding the genetic basis of disease resistance, phylogeographic patterns, and the ecological impacts of invasive species.
Dr. Waldman has secured funding from organizations such as the National Research Foundation (South Korea), National Geographic Society, and the Royal Society of New Zealand. His work has led to over 75 scholarly publications, addressing topics ranging from MHC gene evolution to the global spread of amphibian pathogens via the pet trade. He teaches courses including Evolution, Principles of Conservation Biology, and General Ecology at OSU.
His lab at OSU investigates host-pathogen dynamics, ecological immunogenetics, and conservation strategies for endangered species. Recent projects include studying the role of soil microorganisms in radiation exposure and the genetic diversity of amphibian skin microbiomes.
