Bruce Parkinson is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Wyoming, affiliated with the School of Energy Resources and the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on renewable energy solutions, particularly photoelectrochemistry for water splitting, development of copper zinc tin sulfide (Cu2ZnSnS4) as a low-cost solar cell material, and fundamental studies of organic-metal interfaces via ultrahigh vacuum surface science.
- Education: B.S. from Iowa State University (1972), Ph.D. from California Institute of Technology (1977)
Research Interests:
- Photoelectrochemical water splitting using metal oxide materials for hydrogen production
- Low-toxicity, earth-abundant photovoltaic materials like CZTS
- Surface science of dye-sensitized solar cells via scanning probe techniques and UHV spectroscopy
- Outreach programs engaging undergraduates in renewable energy research
Collaborations: Partnered with the University of Wyoming's School of Energy Resources, PNNL EFRC, and SHArK Project for interdisciplinary energy research.
