Bruce Kleiner is the Silver Professor of Mathematics and Chair of the Department of Mathematics at New York University (NYU), within the Faculty of Arts and Science. He holds a PhD and BA in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley (1990 and 1985). His research focuses on geometric analysis, geometric group theory, and geometric topology, with emphasis on geometric evolution equations (e.g., Ricci flow), quasi-isometric rigidity, and analysis on singular spaces like Carnot groups. His work bridges geometry, analysis, topology, and algebra.
Key grants include NSF awards DMS-1405899, DMS-1406394, DMS-1711556, and DMS-2005553. No scientific awards are explicitly listed. As department chair, he oversees academic and administrative leadership. His research also addresses quasisymmetric structures of self-similar spaces and bilipschitz embedding problems. He is affiliated with the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU, where he maintains an office in Warren Weaver Hall.
