Bruce Goode is a Professor of Biology and Department Chair in the Department of Biology at Brandeis University. His research focuses on cytoskeletal assembly and dynamics, particularly the regulation of actin filaments in yeast and mammalian cells. He holds a B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley.
His work investigates how cells dynamically assemble and reorganize actin networks, addressing mechanisms of actin regulation, microtubule-actin crosstalk, and cytoskeletal length control. Techniques include genetics, biochemistry, live-cell imaging, and single-molecule analysis. Key findings include roles for formins, APC, and Dia1 in actin-microtubule coordination. His lab also explores disease links, such as nephrotic syndrome and ALS, through actin dysregulation.
