Bruce Chrisp is an Associate Professor of Practice at the Conservatory of Music of the University of the Pacific. He is actively involved in orchestral performance, sound engineering, and music production. Chrisp serves as principal trombonist in multiple orchestras including the Santa Rosa Symphony, Marin Symphony, and Oakland Symphony, among others. He is also a recording artist frequently working at Skywalker Ranch and a founding member of the San Francisco Brass Company.
Education: MM from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and BM in Music Education from University of Michigan.
Research interests include historical performance practices (e.g., renaissance/baroque works on period instruments), contemporary music arrangement/production, and multi-track recording innovations. Recent projects include a Gabrieli sonata reconstruction on original instruments, a reimagined Woodie Guthrie anthem with the Oakland Symphony, and pandemic-era television theme arrangements.
His technical work spans audio production, editing, and engineering for orchestral collaborations, including the Vice President Kamala Harris virtual gala fanfare. Chrisp maintains dual roles as an educator and professional musician in the San Francisco Bay Area.
