معرفی
Bruce C. Berndt is the Michio Suzuki Distinguished Research Professor of Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he has served since 1967. His affiliations include visiting scholarships at the Institute for Advanced Study (1973-74) and a foundational role in editing Ramanujan's Notebooks. Berndt's research focuses on analytic number theory, particularly Ramanujan's work on theta functions, modular forms, and q-series.
His investigations span partition theory, continued fractions, elliptic functions, and combinatorial identities, often leveraging Ramanujan's unpublished manuscripts to derive new mathematical insights. Recent publications emphasize mock theta functions, Bessel series, and identities in q-series.
Berndt's scholarly contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including:
- Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition (1996)
- Lester R. Ford Award (1989, 1994)
- Fellowship in the American Mathematical Society (2012)
- Honorary doctorate from SASTRA University (2012)
