معرفی
Brooke Russell is an Assistant Professor of Physics at MIT, joining the faculty in July 2025. She holds the Neil and Jane Pappalardo Special Fellowship in Physics (2024-2026). Her research focuses on neutrino physics and dark matter detection, leveraging advanced experimental techniques like liquid argon time-projection chambers (LArTPCs) and quantum sensing. She is affiliated with MIT's Laboratory for Nuclear Science.
Education:
- A.B. in Physics, Princeton University (2011)
- Ph.D. in Physics, Yale University (2020)
Research Interests: Explores massive neutrinos' properties and implications for BSM physics via the DUNE experiment. Concurrently investigates low-mass particle dark matter using quasiparticle detectors at the Kamioka Cryolab. Her work emphasizes sub-GeV scale dark matter searches and novel detector technologies.
Key Awards:
- 2021 L'Oréal For Women in Science Fellowship
- 2020-2023 Owen Chamberlain Postdoctoral Fellowship at Lawrence Berkeley Lab
- 2019 Gertrude Scharff-Goldhaber Prize
Professional Activities: Russell's lab develops cutting-edge detector systems for precision neutrino measurements and quantum-sensing-based dark matter experiments. She leads collaborative efforts with the MicroBooNE and DUNE consortia.
