Britta Wrede is a Professor at the Medical Faculty OWL, Bielefeld University, and heads the Medical Assistive Systems Group. She is also a member of the Scientific Board of the TRR 318 Constructing Explainability and represents the Medical School in the Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC).
Research Interests:
- Human-Robot Interaction (HRI)
- Dialogue and Emotion Modeling
- Integration of Biosignals in HRI
- Explainable AI (XAI) in Medical Systems
- Co-constructive Task Learning
Projects & Funding: She has led EU projects (CODEFROR, ITALK, RobotDoc) and national initiatives funded by DFG (TRR 318, CRC 673), DLR (Sozirob), DAAD, and BMBF (DESIRE). Currently, she investigates real-time attention measurement in HRI and public understanding of explainable technologies.
Academic Roles: Co-editor of Künstliche Intelligenz and associate editor of International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR). Member of DFG Senate committee for Graduate Schools.
