Brit Ross Winthereik

Brit Ross Winthereik is a Professor at the Department of Technology, Management and Economics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where she also serves as Head of Division. She holds an external position as Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen (2022–2023). Her research focuses on Science and Technology Studies (STS), digitalization in public welfare systems, and data governance. She earned her PhD in Anthropology from Erasmus University Rotterdam (2004).

Key research interests include digital inclusion, infrastructure studies, and the socio-technical dynamics of digital technologies. She has co-edited several books, including Science and Technology Studies and Digital Inclusion, and leads large-scale research projects such as the AI:DK initiative. Winthereik teaches courses like Experimenting with Ethnography and frequently engages in public discourse on digital ethics and societal impacts.

Her recent work explores concepts like partially digital citizenship and investigates how data-driven systems shape welfare access. She actively supervises PhD students and collaborates internationally, addressing challenges in digital governance and inclusive technology design.
