Brigitte Plateau is a university professor and holds doctorates in computer science from the University of Paris XI. She served as Director of Grenoble INP - Ensimag and created/directed the Grenoble Computer Science Laboratory (UMR 5217). Her research focuses on parallel and distributed computing systems' performance, synchronization mechanisms, and stochastic automata networks. She has held roles in national scientific bodies including CNRS, ANR, INRIA, and MESR.
Education:
- Graduate of École Normale Supérieure
- Agrégée in Mathematics
- Postgraduate Doctorate & State Doctorate in Computer Science (University of Paris XI)
Research Interests: Modeling distributed systems, performance analysis of parallel architectures, Markov chain formalisms, and algorithmic solutions for complex synchronization. Her work on stochastic automata networks uses Kronecker algebras to model system behavior and calculate execution performance even with intricate interactions.
Awards:
- Chevalier of the Legion of Honor (2011)
- Grand Prix de la Fondation EADS (2012)
Leadership & Service: Directed major institutions like Grenoble INP and pioneered formal methods for parallel computing systems. Engaged in national scientific governance across multiple agencies.
