Brigitte Blackman

Brigitte Blackman serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Cal Poly Humboldt, teaching core courses including Principles of Biology (Biol105), Genetics (Biol340), Genetics Lab (Biol440), and Stem Cell Biology (Biol544) from her office in Science Building 338.

Her academic foundation includes a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology and a PhD in Chemical Pathology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and University of California, San Francisco in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Research focuses on cell signaling mechanisms with dual specializations in fertility/reproduction systems and neuronal signaling pathways, informed by industry experience in molecular biology product development at BD Biosciences and Clontech. This interdisciplinary approach bridges molecular pathology with physiological applications in reproductive and neural contexts.
