Dr. Brighid Golden is a Lecturer in Global Citizenship Education at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick. She holds a B.Ed from MIC, an M.Ed from the University of Birmingham, and a PhD from the University of Glasgow. Her academic roles include teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs such as the B.Ed in Education and Psychology, Professional Master of Education (PME), and Master of Education in Leadership of Wellbeing in Education.
Dr. Golden’s research focuses on critical thinking development, global citizenship education, and teacher education. She has secured funding (€9,991.38) under Research Ireland’s New Foundations programme for her collaborative project with STAND NGO, titled 'Get Critical: Expanding a Conceptual Framework for Critical Global Learning'. Her work emphasizes pedagogical strategies for fostering critical thinking and democratic values in initial teacher education.
Her publications include a forthcoming Palgrave Macmillan book (2025), peer-reviewed journal articles, edited volumes, and teaching resources. Notable works explore critical global learning frameworks, action research in education, and intercultural education. She actively contributes to academic conferences, including presentations at ISATT (2025), ANGEL, ESAI, and ECER.
Dr. Golden collaborates with institutes like the DICE Project and has led workshops on migration, empathy, and cultural diversity in education. Her research integrates self-study methodologies and participatory action research to address societal challenges in teacher training and global citizenship education.
