Bridget Kane is an Associate Professor in Information Systems Research at Karlstad University. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin (2008), along with advanced degrees in Health Informatics and Management. Her research focuses on applying Health Information Technology to improve healthcare quality and efficiency, particularly in clinical laboratory services and multidisciplinary team collaboration. She is a core member of the DOME research consortium and leads projects like NORDeHealth and PAPAYA, addressing European health data interoperability and patient portal usability.

Research Interests: Dr. Kane’s work spans Health IT implementation, clinical workflow optimization, and patient-centered digital solutions. Her recent projects analyze cross-national differences in patient portal usability and security perceptions among older adults and adolescents.
Publications Focus: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles highlight trends in EHR access challenges, healthcare team communication failures, and ISO standard adoption in clinical pathology. Notable themes include: privacy concerns in mental healthcare records, telehealth adaptation during pandemics, and sociotechnical barriers to health data sharing.
