معرفی
Brice Lecampion is an Associate Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he leads the Geo-Energy Lab - Gaznat Chair on GeoEnergy within the Institute of Civil Engineering at the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering. He holds a PhD in Mechanics from École Polytechnique (France) and spent nearly a decade at Schlumberger in research and development roles prior to joining academia.
Lecampion's research integrates continuum mechanics and geophysics to study fracture/fault growth and fluid flow in geomaterials. Key focus areas include:
- Hydraulic fracture dynamics in anisotropic and heterogeneous media
- Fluid-induced seismicity and aseismic slip mechanisms
- Geomechanical modeling for geothermal energy and CO₂ storage
- Experimental rock mechanics and fracture monitoring techniques
Analysis of recent publications reveals consistent themes:
- Advanced modeling of buoyant hydraulic fractures and magmatic intrusions
- Fault stability analysis for induced seismicity prediction
- Innovative acoustic monitoring methods for fracture characterization
- Multi-scale approaches from molecular interactions to reservoir-scale simulations
Lecampion actively advises doctoral candidates in geomechanics and fracture mechanics. He has secured significant funding including the Gaznat Chair and leads projects like STIMDESIGN for geothermal reservoir optimization. He directs EPFL's Geo-Energy Laboratory, coordinating experimental and computational research on subsurface engineering challenges.
