Brian T. Swanson is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Hartford, where he serves as Interim Dean of the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions (ENHP), Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Program Director of Physical Therapy, and Director of the Certificate in Advanced Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He has over 20 years of clinical expertise in orthopedic physical therapy and manual therapy.

Dr. Swanson’s research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of manual therapy techniques and evaluating the clinical utility of musculoskeletal diagnostic tests. He teaches Examination and Intervention of Musculoskeletal Pathologies (spine and extremity) and Scientific Inquiry courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. His professional service includes active participation in the Connecticut Physical Therapy Association and the research committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He is also a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
