Brian T. Cooper is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), part of the Klein College of Science. His research focuses on protein analysis using capillary electrophoresis, fluorescence detection, and mass spectrometry. He holds a B.S. from Purdue University (1989), a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona (1994), and completed an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at Iowa State University (1994–1997).
- Education: Purdue University (B.S., 1989), University of Arizona (Ph.D., 1994), Postdoc at Iowa State University (NIH Fellow, 1994–1997)
His research interests include analyzing protein charge ladders, ligand binding via affinity capillary electrophoresis (ACE), and collaborative work with the Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics using CEMS techniques for transcription factor studies. He has received prestigious awards such as the NSF CAREER Award (2000–2004) and ORAU Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (1999–2000).
Teaching includes courses like Principles of Chemistry, Quantitative Analysis, and Mass Spectrometry. His work bridges analytical and bioanalytical chemistry, advancing methods in electrophoresis and fluorescence detection.
