Brian Sloss is the Dean of the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he has served since 2002. He also holds a faculty position as Professor of Fisheries and Water Resources. His career at the university has spanned roles including Assistant Unit Leader of the Wisconsin Cooperative Fishery Research Unit and Associate Dean for Outreach and Extension.
- Ph.D. in Zoology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale
- M.S. in Biology from Western Illinois University
- B.S. in Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Dr. Sloss founded the Molecular Conservation Genetics Laboratory, focusing on genetic research in freshwater fisheries, wildlife, and natural resources. His work supports state and national agencies in Great Lakes management, emphasizing applied conservation genetics. His research bridges molecular biology and ecological resource management, particularly in freshwater systems.
He resides in Plover, Wisconsin, with his family.
