Brian Sindel is Professor of Weed Science at the School of Environmental and Rural Science, University of New England. With over 30 years of research supervision, he specializes in weed ecology and management across diverse environments including Antarctic regions and agricultural systems. His work focuses on invasive species control, herbicide tolerance, and sustainable pasture management.
Research interests span weed ecology, seed bank dynamics, and crop-weed competition. His investigations cover species like fireweed, serrated tussock, and Chilean needle grass across natural and agricultural landscapes.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on invasive species management, with recent work exploring novel pollination techniques, weed germination ecology, and sustainable farming practices. Research spans molecular, ecological, and agricultural implementation scales.
As Education Director for the Future Food Systems CRC, Dr. Sindel develops educational frameworks for agricultural innovation. He leads the Weed Science Group and maintains extensive industry collaborations through MLA, GRDC, CRDC, and other agricultural research bodies.
