Brian Simmons is a Professor of Communication at Oklahoma Christian University, serving as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Department Chair for Communication. He teaches courses in Oral Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Persuasion, Family Communication, Argumentation & Debate, and Film & Religious Faith.
Research Interests:
- Focused on religious communication, particularly how apostates articulate shifts in their faith.
- Explores intersections of religion, media ethics, and societal discourse.
- Investigates communication patterns in family and emerging adult religious contexts.
Publications:
- Contributions to journals such as Journalism Quarterly, The Journal of Popular Music and Society, and Sex, Religion and Media.
- Authored books: Falling Away: Why Christians Lose Their Faith and What Can Be Done About It (2005) and Wandering in the Wilderness: The Changes and Challenges in Emerging Adults’ Christian Faith (2009).
