Brian Silver

Dr. Brian Silver is a Professor and Endowed Chair in Neuroscience Research at UMass Chan Medical School, affiliated with the Neurology Department within the T.H. Chan School of Medicine. His clinical and research focus centers on vascular neurology, stroke prevention, acute stroke treatment, and neurorestoration.

Dr. Silver holds dual degrees from McGill University: a BS in Science and an MD. He has extensive experience in both clinical practice and academic research, contributing to over 150 peer-reviewed publications.

His research interests span acute stroke management, post-stroke rehabilitation strategies, telemedicine applications in neurology, and the impact of comorbidities (e.g., heart failure, atrial fibrillation) on stroke outcomes. Notable work includes studies on thrombolysis protocols, stroke risk assessment tools (e.g., LACE+ index), and the role of inflammation in cerebrovascular disorders.
