Brian Sapp

Brian Sapp is a Professor of Architecture at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2018, previously serving as a Professor of Civil Engineering at Georgia Southern University (2017–2018). He holds dual degrees in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (B.S. and M.S.). His expertise spans structural engineering, coastal dynamics, and architectural design, with a focus on fluid dynamics and laboratory research.

He has been a structural engineer and project manager at firms like Tharpe Engineering Group since 2012, contributing to infrastructure projects. His research explores coastal hazards, rip currents, and fluid mechanics, reflected in publications like Journal of Waterway Port Coastal and Ocean Engineering. Awards include the Connolly Award (2017) and the SEAOG Special Recognition Award (2014).

He is affiliated with organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). His work bridges academic and professional realms, emphasizing sustainable infrastructure and coastal resilience.
