Brian M. Hoffman

Brian M. Hoffman is a Professor at Northwestern University, with dual appointments in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Molecular Biosciences. He holds the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Chair in Chemistry and is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Biological Sciences Graduate Program (IBiS) and Chemistry of Life Processes Institute.

Research Focus: Dr. Hoffman specializes in electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectroscopy to study metalloenzyme catalytic mechanisms. His work spans:

• Copper methane monooxygenase for greenhouse gas mitigation
• In vivo Mn²⁺ speciation in biological systems
