Brian Lee is an Instructor in the Executive MPH program at Emory University and serves as Senior Advisor for Informatics at the CDC's Office of the Chief Information Officer. He has held roles such as Deputy Director of the CDC's Informatics Innovation Unit and Chief Public Health Informatics Officer. His work focuses on leveraging digital technology to enhance public health data analytics and interoperability.
Education includes a BBA from Georgia State University and an MPH from Emory University. He teaches APHI 552D: Introduction to Public Health Data Manipulation Through Programming.
Research interests include disease surveillance evaluation, public health informatics, data science, and data mining. He advocates for agile, collaborative informatics practices to bridge data and public health programs.
Prior experience includes roles as a consultant, architect for projects like the Public Health Grid (phGrid), and enterprise architect for the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and volunteers with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
