Brian L. Sprague is a Professor at the University of Vermont Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine and Co-Leader of the UVM Cancer Center Population Science Program. His work focuses on breast cancer epidemiology, mammography screening, and health disparities.
- Education: PhD in Population Health Sciences (Epidemiology) from University of Wisconsin; Postdoctoral Fellowship in Population Health Sciences.
His research spans breast cancer risk assessment, screening technology evaluation (digital mammography, tomosynthesis), and public health policy. Recent studies analyze interactions between DNA repair genes and environmental factors, breast density, and screening adherence.
He has received multiple Excellence in Research Awards (2013–2018) and the Green & Gold Professorship. His affiliations include the Department of Surgery, Radiology, and Biochemistry, with leadership roles in cancer population science.
