Brian Irvine is a Research Fellow at UCL's Institute of Education (IOE), specifically within the Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE) in the Department of Psychology and Human Development. His work focuses on participatory research methodologies that amplify autistic voices in knowledge construction. Prior to joining UCL in early 2023, he completed his ESRC-funded PhD at the University of Birmingham's Autism Centre for Education and Research (ACER), developing the first UK HEI Specialist (Autism) Mentoring framework. He also served as a Specialist Mentor at Royal Holloway, University of London for a decade, supporting neurodivergent students. His research emphasizes reframing autism through a 'gain' lens, highlighting superior perceptual capacities and fostering inclusive academic cultures.
