Brian Flanagan

Brian Flanagan is a Lecturer of Management & Organizations at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, specializing in leadership development and organizational behavior. He teaches courses such as Leading People and Organizations, Human Behavior in Organizations, and Positive Leadership & Organizing. His role includes bridging academic insights with real-world application through executive coaching in the Ross School's Executive MBA Program.

Flanagan co-developed the Michigan Model of Leadership and served as Founding Managing Director of the Sanger Leadership Center (2012–2020), scaling its reach from 1,800 to 15,000 annual learners. Key initiatives include the Leadership Crisis Challenge and Ross Leaders Academy. He also founded Water's Edge Leadership Institute, providing global leadership consulting.

His research and teaching focus on experiential learning, ethical leadership, and mission-driven organizations. Collaborative projects include developing leadership programs at Cambridge University and Grand Valley State University's Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies.
