Brian Coe serves as an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he teaches Entrepreneurship in Healthcare and Life Sciences (Course 34210) during Autumn quarters for 2024-25 and 2025-26. He co-created and taught the Entrepreneurial Discovery course with Professor Mark Tebbe and instructs the I-Corps program at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
His research focuses on translating scientific innovation into commercial healthcare solutions, particularly in diagnostic technologies. With firsthand experience scaling ventures from inception to IPO, Coe emphasizes practical frameworks for identifying market opportunities in regulated industries like diagnostics and life sciences. His work bridges academic theory with real-world startup execution, highlighting capital formation strategies and regulatory navigation.
Coe actively advises life science startups, leveraging his experience raising $500 million in equity capital and $50 million in non-dilutive grants for Talis Biomedical. His mentorship focuses on go-to-market strategies for point-of-care diagnostics and building payer-reimbursed healthcare platforms, drawing from his leadership at Litholink (acquired by LabCorp) where programs expanded to serve 9 million patients annually across chronic disease areas.
