Brian Bresnahan is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology. As a health economist, he specializes in economic evaluations, health technology assessment, and pharmaceutical outcomes research.
- Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Georgia
- B.S. from Mount Saint Mary’s College
His research focuses on cost-effectiveness analysis, health preference evaluation, and risk-benefit assessment, particularly in evaluating medical product value for payers and addressing public health challenges like polypharmacy and vaccination innovation.
Current projects include a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded measles vaccination initiative and a Premera Blue Cross program evaluation for pharmacy and medical claims in high-risk populations. He collaborates with the CHOICE Institute and Harborview Medical Center’s Radiology Department on quality improvement and health policy.
Prior to his academic roles, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry (Johnson & Johnson, Genentech) and as a visiting professor at Louisiana State University.
