Brian Bartell is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Humanities & Sciences Department at ArtCenter College of Design, where he teaches courses on race and technology studies, media studies, and modernity/modernism. He earned his PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University in 2018.

His current research focuses on intersections of racial capitalism and technological development during the 1960s Black Power movement, culminating in a forthcoming monograph titled On the Eve of the Cyber-Cultural Revolution (University of Minnesota Press). Courses taught include HHIS-382-01: Automation Histories and HHIS-314-01: Hist & Theory of Media & Tech.
