Bretton T. Alvaré

Bretton T. Alvaré is an Associate Professor specializing in cultural anthropology at Widener University. His ethnographic research focuses on Afro-Caribbean worldviews, faith-based political participation, and transnational social movements in the Anglophone Caribbean, particularly Trinidad and Tobago. He conducts fieldwork with grassroots NGOs and studies urban issues related to institutional racism.

Education includes a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from Temple University.

Research examines Rastafari activism, development politics, and cultural exchange programs. Current collaborations include an ethnographic study of academic barriers at Chester High School.
