Brett Toelle

Associate Professor Brett Toelle is affiliated with Macquarie University's Department of Health Sciences. He serves as Deputy Director of the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and is a Principal Research Fellow in the Respiratory and Environmental Epidemiology Group. His research focuses on asthma, COPD, and lung disease epidemiology, with over 30 years of experience in population studies.

Education: PhD in Psychology (University of Sydney, 2003), BA in Psychology (Macquarie University, 1996), Diploma of Applied Science (Nursing, University of Sydney, 1988).

Key Projects: The BOLD Australia study (COPD prevalence), Childhood Asthma Prevention Study (CAPS), and a project on wind turbine infrasound health effects (2015–2024).

Research Interests: Asthma medication adherence, respiratory disease burden, environmental influences on lung health, and longitudinal population studies.

Grants: Led a project on wind turbine infrasound health effects (2024).
