Brett S. Levinson is a Professor of Comparative Literature at Binghamton University, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. His research focuses on Latin American literature, postcolonial studies, and the intersection of political thought with global market dynamics. He holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, an MA from Bryn Mawr College, and a BA from Oberlin College.

His current research includes two major projects: The State/Market Duopoly Between Two Nihilisms: Meditations on Things Formerly Known as Politics and Thought, analyzing contemporary political philosophy and market transitions, and Literary Politics in Latin America: the Poetics and Practice of Globalization, which re-examines Latin American culture through literature’s relationship with other forms of production.
Levinson has received significant grants and fellowships, including a Title F Grant (SUNY, 1999), Rockefeller Fellowships (Chile/UVa, 1997-1998), and a National Endowment for the Humanities grant (1992). His work bridges literary analysis with continental philosophy and psychoanalytic theory, particularly in contexts of postcolonial and neoliberal critique.
