Brett Mitchell is a Professor of Medical Physiology at Texas A&M University, located in Bryan, Texas. He serves as Director of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program and Director of the Medical Sciences MS Degree Program. His academic journey includes a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College (1995), MS from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (1996), and PhD from Medical College of Georgia (2003). His postdoctoral work at NASA's Johnson Space Center focused on immunophilins and endothelial function.
Research Interests
Dr. Mitchell investigates molecular mechanisms linking immune activation to endothelial dysfunction and hypertension. Key areas include renal lymphatic vessels in hypertension, immunosuppressive drug-induced hypertension, and preeclampsia. His lab aims to develop therapies targeting immune-cardiovascular interactions.
