Brett J. Butler

Brett J. Butler serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the School of Earth and Sustainability, University of Massachusetts Amherst. His primary focus is on survey methods for private forestland owners and decision-making factors affecting land stewardship.

Research interests include:

• Private forestland owner surveys
• Landowner behavior analysis
• Trends in forest ownership
• Conservation policy implications

He currently directs the U.S. Forest Service's National Woodland Owner Survey and co-directs the Family Forest Research Center.
