Dr. Brett Hollier is an early career researcher leading the Invasion and Metastasis laboratory at the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre - Queensland (APCRC-Q), affiliated with Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He holds a QLD Smart Futures Fund Fellowship (2012-2015) focused on designing targeted therapies for cancer progression. His research centers on mechanisms of cancer metastasis, particularly the roles of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) family and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in prostate cancer. Hollier earned his PhD from QUT in 2008, followed by postdoctoral training at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he received the Susan G. Komen Foundation Fellowship.
Education:
- PhD, Queensland University of Technology (2008)
- Postdoctoral Training, MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA)
Research Interests:
Hollier’s work investigates EMT-driven metastasis, therapeutic resistance, and biomarker discovery. Key areas include:
- Molecular mechanisms of EMT in prostate cancer
- IGF signaling and its clinical implications
- Development of novel drug targets and combination therapies
Grants & Awards:
- QLD Smart Futures Fund Fellowship (2012-2015)
- Susan G. Komen Postdoctoral Fellowship
Lab & Collaborations:
His lab integrates molecular biology, genomics, and clinical data to advance precision oncology. Collaborations span prostate cancer metabolism, circulating tumor cells, and immune-oncology.
