Brenton Stewart is an Associate Professor at the College of Information Science, University of Arizona, where he joined in January 2025. His work bridges cultural informatics and digital culture, focusing on how individuals and communities interact with information across diverse social and cultural contexts.
His research interests include:
- Information behavior and practices
- Information avoidance, needs, use, and trust
- Information ecology of academic libraries
- College student information behaviors
With a background as a former academic librarian, Dr. Stewart brings practical insight into the challenges and dynamics of information access and use in academic environments. His teaching includes INFO/LIS 515: Organization of Information Experience.
He is a core faculty member and PhD faculty in the College of Information Science, contributing to research areas in Cultural Heritage, Humanities and Archives, Data Management, Analysis and Visualization, and Social Sciences and Behavior.
His academic training includes:

- MS in Library and Information Science, Clark Atlanta University
