Brent A. Strawn is the D. Moody Smith Distinguished Professor of Old Testament and Professor of Law at Duke University's Divinity School. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary (2001) and previously served as Professor of Law at Duke School of Law (2020–2022). His research focuses on Old Testament studies, biblical theology, and ancient Near Eastern contexts, with notable work on the Psalms, Genesis, and biblical law. Strawn has received grants, including an NEH award (2024–2025) for his work on the Hebrew Psalter. He teaches courses such as Old Testament Interpretation, Biblical Law, and Semitic languages.
