Brenda Gillespie is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and Associate Director of the University of Michigan's Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR). She holds a Research Associate Professor title in the School of Public Health and is affiliated with the Center for South Asian Studies. Gillespie earned her PhD in Statistics from Temple University, MS from Ohio State University, and BA in Mathematics from Earlham College. Her expertise includes clinical trials, survival analysis, and biostatistical methodologies applied to kidney and liver diseases.
She actively supports University research through statistical consultation and teaches courses in survival analysis, regression, and meta-analysis. Her research focuses on censored data analysis, clinical trial design, and applications in kidney transplantation and glomerular diseases. Notable projects include improving survival analysis methods for domestic violence studies and analyzing left-censored data in environmental health studies.
Gillespie collaborates on high-impact projects like the Adult-to-Adult Living Donor Liver Transplantation Cohort Study and the Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study. She emphasizes rigorous statistical methods to address real-world public health challenges, bridging academic research with practical healthcare solutions.
