Brenci Patiño is an Associate Professor of Spanish, Latin American, and Latinx Studies and Department Head of Latin American and Francophone Studies at Mary Baldwin University. She earned her BA from the University of Texas and MA/PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Research Interests: Her work examines cultural and literary representations of working-class women, U.S. Latina/o cultural production, and contemporary Mexican narrative fiction through the lens of power negotiations between socioeconomic classes. She specifically investigates how gender and class hierarchies manifest in literary and cultural texts.
Professional Engagement: Professor Patiño actively participates in the Latino Culture Gateway initiative. Her teaching portfolio includes intermediate/advanced Spanish, U.S. Latina/o literature, 20th century Latin American literature, and Latin American/Spanish culture courses. Previously taught at University of Illinois, Texas Lutheran University, San Antonio College, and University of Texas at San Antonio.
