Braxton D. Mitchell

Braxton D. Mitchell is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, with secondary appointments in Epidemiology & Public Health. He serves as Vice Chair for Research in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Nutrition.

He integrates whole-genome sequencing, -omics data, and lifestyle interactions to identify rare genetic variants affecting disease risk.

Dr. Mitchell's publications highlight his work on genetic variants (e.g., APOC3, ABCG8), cardiometabolic health, stroke genetics, and Amish population studies. His collaborations span the Stroke Genetics Network (SiGN), Osteoarthritis Initiative, and Amish Connectome Project.
