Brant Hinrichs serves as Associate Professor of Physics in the Department of Chemistry & Physics at Drury University, where he has been a faculty member since 1999 after achieving his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
His educational credentials include:
- B.S.E. from the University of Michigan (1986)
- M.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1988)
- Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1994)
Dr. Hinrichs' research trajectory spans experimental high-energy physics, neuroscientific time-series analysis, and contemporary Physics Education Research. His early work investigated asymmetrical scattering of polarized protons at Brookhaven National Laboratory, followed by doctoral research analyzing brain signals in awake pigeons. Currently, he focuses on comparative analysis of student comprehension regarding microscopic and macroscopic physics models through active collaboration with Dr. Beth Ann Thacker at Texas Tech University.
He teaches across Drury's physics curriculum from General Physics to advanced quantum mechanics while maintaining research in pedagogical methodologies. His office is located in Mercy Science Center 213 with contact via (417) 873-6976.
