معرفی
Dr. Bram van Dijk is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Science, Utrecht University, affiliated with the Department of Theoretical Biology under the Biodynamics and Biocomplexity unit. His work bridges computational modeling with microbial evolution to uncover fundamental biological principles.
- Research Focus: Microbiology, Theoretical Ecology, Host-Microbiome Interactions, and Evolutionary Dynamics.
- Expertise: Developing biological simulation models using C++ and scripting languages (Bash, JavaScript, HTML).
His research explores how simple rules govern complex microbial systems through in silico models. Recent studies analyze bacterial division of labor, genome streamlining via transposable elements, and dynamics of horizontal gene transfer.
Key publication trends include microbial adaptation in compost ecosystems, metabolic network evolution, and gene retention mechanisms. He maintains a personal website, The Virtual Laboratory, for computational biology outreach.
