Dr. Bradford Pendley is an Affiliate Professor in the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Memphis. He holds an A.A. (St. Petersburg College, 1985), B.S. (Eckerd College, 1987), M.S. and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Cornell University (1989–1992), and an M.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (2007). After a tenure at Rhodes College, he pursued medical training to enhance his research in clinical electrochemical sensors. His research focuses on electrochemical sensors for medical applications, including ion and small molecule detection in bodily fluids.
Dr. Pendley has collaborated extensively with Dr. Erno Lindner, advancing sensor technologies for clinical diagnostics. His work bridges analytical chemistry and medicine, emphasizing practical applications in healthcare. He has published over 40 articles, a book chapter, and holds a patent. Awards include the Herff Award for Distinguished Service (2017) and recognition for teaching excellence at Rhodes College.
His research spans sensor design, material characterization, and clinical utility, with notable contributions to polymeric membrane sensors and solid-contact electrode innovations. He continues practicing internal medicine while teaching and mentoring students.
