Brad Myrstol is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of the School of Justice and Human Services at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). He earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice (2006) and M.A. (2004) from Indiana University, and a B.S. in Sociology with a Justice Studies focus (1999) from Montana State University. Dr. Myrstol has held multiple roles at UAA since 2002, including founding director of the Alaska Justice Information Center (AJiC) and chair of the UAA Justice Center.

- Primary research areas: Policing, criminal justice response to sexual assault and intimate partner violence, applied justice policy in Alaska
- Teaching: Undergraduate and graduate courses in criminology, including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police-Community Relations, and Ethics in Criminal Justice Policy
His research focuses on Alaska-specific criminal justice issues with an applied emphasis to inform policy. He has published in journals like Crime & Delinquency and Policing: An International Journal, and led initiatives such as the Alaska Intimate Partner Violence Interactive Data Dashboard. Dr. Myrstol's administrative roles include overseeing research portfolios and mentoring junior faculty at the AJiC.
Notable contributions include analyzing police-public interactions, evaluating criminal justice reforms, and developing data-driven solutions for rural Alaska policing. His work appears in Alaska Justice Forum and other policy-oriented publications.
