Brad Jirka is a Professor of Fine Arts at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD), specializing in Sculpture, Digital Fabrication, and 3D Foundation Studies. With over four decades of teaching experience, he has also contributed to professional fields through collaborations like 'Midwest Electric Art,' co-founding The American School of Neon, and serving as Vice President of Design at St. Elmo’s Inc.
His studio practice revolves around Philosophical Instruments, exploring environmental phenomenology, while his public art projects with Katherine Jones integrate light, motion, and technology to create immersive 'events.' Notable installations include 'Justitia Omnibus' (Metropolitan State University), 'Lax Communica' (UW-La Crosse), and the Neon Riverboat Mural in Minneapolis. His work has been featured in CodaMagazine’s 'Light as Art III' and 'Placemaking Art.'
Jirka has served as a juror for the MN State Fair Art Exhibition and Society of MN Sculptors, co-curated exhibitions like 'Body and Machine' and 'Beyond the Buzz,' and moderated panels. He holds a BFA in Intermedia Art.
