Botir Sagdullaev is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine's Graduate School of Medical Sciences. His research investigates how synaptic mechanisms in sensory systems underpin perception and how these processes are altered during neurodegeneration, development, or experience.
Research Focus:
- Model System: Vertebrate retina for experimental analysis of synaptic interactions
- Key Techniques: Whole-cell patch recordings, optic nerve fiber monitoring, ERG (electroretinography)
- Pathology Applications: Retinal degenerative diseases, photoreceptor loss, treatment strategies
Neuroscience Affiliation: Active participant in the Tri-Institutional PhD Programs and affiliated with the VIVO Lab and Weill Cornell Medicine's Center for Vision Repair.
