Botir Okhunjanov is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Denison University. He holds a PhD in Economics (expected 2022) from Washington State University, an MS in Statistics (2021) from WSU, an MA in Economics from the University of Hawaiʻi–Mānoa (2015), and a BS in Economics from Westminster International University in Tashkent (2011). His research focuses on Industrial Organization, Applied Econometrics, Environmental Economics, and the interplay between climate change and economic systems. Recent work includes studies on scarcity pricing in the wine industry, self-enforcing international water agreements in Central Asia, and the impact of corruption on migration patterns in post-Soviet nations. Okhunjanov has taught courses such as Intermediate Microeconomic Theory, Global Capitalism, and Sustainable Development at multiple institutions.
His professional contributions include economic impact assessments for organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaiʻi and the University of Hawaiʻi Athletics Department. He has presented research at venues like the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association conferences and the Berkeley/Sloan Summer School. Awards include the 2021 Berkeley/Sloan fellowship and multiple graduate assistantships. Okhunjanov is fluent in Uzbek, Russian, and English, and skilled in statistical software (R, SAS, Stata) and LaTeX.
