Borut Zagoranski

Borut Zagoranski is a distinguished professor of accordion and Head of Chamber Music at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, and concurrently holds a professorship at the Academy of Music at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula. Since 2014, he has been an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London. His expertise spans performance, pedagogy, and curriculum development, with a focus on accordion and chamber music.

Education includes a 2002 graduation from the Academy of Music in Pula (awarded Rector’s Prize for Best Student), followed by a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music (completed 2006). His mentors include Marjetka Babić, Slavko Magdić, and Owen Murray.

Research interests emphasize classical performance practices, pedagogical methodologies for accordion, and ensemble collaboration. He has authored university-level accordion curricula and serves as a jury member at international competitions. His Wigmore Award (2006) recognizes his artistic contributions.

Zagoranski’s career includes solo performances with orchestras like the Vienna Radio Symphony and appearances at venues such as Wigmore Hall and Wiener Konzerthaus. He actively engages in festivals like ISCM World Music Days and Glasbeni September Maribor.
